Unspoken Conversations are the topics that are often swept under the carpet, whispered amongst the closest of friends and bitched about by many. I want to create awareness about difficult things that people face in life; grief, mental health, money, illnesses, family troubles, relationship difficulties and putting yourself first. I want to tell the truth about things that really matter.

Would You Shave Your Head to Raise Funds for Cancer?

The gorgeous Hayley and her supportive partner who are both shaving their long and luscious locks to raise money for cancer.
Would you shave your head to raise funds for cancer?

Some might say that "it's just hair - it'll grow back" but I think it's a whole lot more then "just hair" - it's part of who you are - your identity and it builds your confidence when you have your hair cut, pampered or placed in a new style!

One of my good friends was diagnosed with Melanoma last year. When I asked myself whether I would shave my hair I thought to myself, you know what, if my friend was going to lose her hair then I would, just to show that I support her 100% and we can look like goofy goobers together!

So I take my hat off to Hayley for being so brave and chopping off her locks. I'm certainly going to be donating not only money, but our bottles and cans too to a very worthy cause!

Take it away Hayley.

I’m not really sure where to start & I don’t want to write a novel, but the biggest reason for me doing the World’s Greatest Shave is because, in September 2009, my Best Friend Luci was abruptly diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer.  Although this was not Leukaemia, it was still a Cancer.

The day that she called me to go to her house & she broke me the news, my heart broke for her & the first things I could think of, other than (a rather selfish thought of the possibility of losing my best friend) was her poor little girls, who were 3 & 5 at the time & her family. She was married & had three sisters.  As we talked & cried that night about what was going to happen in the nearest future, I told her that no matter what, I would be there to support her 1000%!!

Hayley "One of my Fav’s.  This was the Day I shaved for Luci xx This was taken about 10 mins before the Shave".

Due to her Cancer being so aggressive (which at the time we didn’t realise) I told her, no matter what happens, I’ll be shaving my head for her as my way of showing her how much I would be there for her.  Luci didn’t end up losing her hair however, I still wanted to do something to raise money for any type of Cancer.  So in March 2010, I shaved my head for Luci.  It was the most amazing feeling & I loved every minute of it!

On September 2010, Luci sadly lost her battle to this horrid Cancer L  She had just turned 30 in that Feb.  It broke my heart into a million pieces & still now, not a single day goes by that I don’t think about her or wish she was still here with us.  I promised Luci that I would do everything I could to help raise money to get the answers & support for people going through all types of Cancers.

Since then, I have done other fundraisers for the Cancer Council in support of all Cancers & Alby (my partner) & I decided that in March 2014, we would both be Shaving our Head’s for the World’s Greatest Shave.

We are trying to get as much support & money as we possibly can for our Shave.  If people would like to support & sponsor us, they can do so online (anything above $2 is tax deductible) & the receipt can be printed off or saved to their computer.

It's easy to sponsor us online:  http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/MissHaylz912?utm_source=AndroidApp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=ArtezMobileto visit my personal fundraising page – “MissHaylz912” & people can visit our Facebook page “Albz ‘n’ Haylz – Shavin’ it up” – The more support & donations we get, the closer the Leukaemia Foundation is to finding the Cure.

I will also be donating my ‘pony-tail’ to the Pantene “Beautiful Lengths” so I can help someone feel like a million dollars after losing their hair to Cancer.

Thanks so much in advance for your support! J   Once it’s done, I will be providing before, during & after photo’s for you to see J
“Every 46 minutes, someone in Australia gets the news they have blood cancer.  The money you give funds emotional and practical services to help lessen the impact of diagnosis and treatment.  All Leukaemia Foundation's services are provided free of charge."

Your donation helps to keep it that way.  Blood cancer research is urgent and vital.  Blood cancer is Australia’s second biggest cause of cancer death. The money you give will also help fund leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma research.

I really really appreciate your support and hope that together, we can find a cure.

Much love,

Hayley xxxx
