Unspoken Conversations are the topics that are often swept under the carpet, whispered amongst the closest of friends and bitched about by many. I want to create awareness about difficult things that people face in life; grief, mental health, money, illnesses, family troubles, relationship difficulties and putting yourself first. I want to tell the truth about things that really matter.

Why creating a bucket list is inspiring.

I think everyone should take the time to write a bucket list.

Not only are they fun to create, the things on your list give you something to strive for, and something to set your mind towards. Dream big I say.

My partner and I recently wrote a bucket list on a road trip to the Yorke Peninsula. It was hilarious. My partner’s included: owning a v8, catching a Marlin, shooting a rocket launcher and making a million dollars in one year.

I laughed, as you do, and brushed it off “hahaha…stupid boys…”

I laughed because mine of course was much more realistic: going on an African Safari, skiing in Canada, going to the Olympics and spending a whole day in a day spa (to name a few!)

But as I found myself scrambling around the house the other day, tipping everything upside down and inside out to find the scrumpled piece of paper that I’d jotted our dreams down on, I realised that perhaps they weren’t “so stupid” after all.

I mean, we're told to dream big but at the same time we're told to set realistic goals. To set measurable goals. To set achieveable goals. But whose to say that the goals that you write on your bucket list aren’t any of those things.

  • S = Specific
  • M = Measurable
  • A = Attainable
  • R = Realistic
  • T = Timely

Let’s face it, some of the things that you write might not be “realistic” right now. I mean, I’m pretty sure in my partners case, that he'd get in trouble if he somehow managed to get his hand on a rocket launcher and set it off in the back yard.

But whose to say that one day, on our travels, he might just be given the opportunity to be in control of one of those things (god help us if he is!)

Isn’t it our responsibility as a partner, mother, father, friend, team member or colleauge to bring out the best in the people we care about and to encourage them to dream big and take risks and go for their goals?

Writing these dreams and goals downstops them from swirling around and around in your head and somehow makes them feel real and achievable and less “unrealistic”.

It’s not like you’d be expected to quit your job or madly drive around to your parents to drop the kids off to jump on the first plane to the Maldives. Nor should you feel as though you’d be judged on how “silly” some of your goals are. You don’t have to show anyone if you don’t want to. The "sillier" the better I say!

Writing the spa, the boat and the traveling dreams down just gives you something to work towards. It also gives you a way to measure what you have achieved as the years all seem to blur in to one another. If anything it’s something to laugh at and have fun with!

You are only limited by your imagination and you might be surprised by what you can bring to life.

And if you don’t like the morbid ness of the sound “bucket list” you could always change it to your “fun list”!

Happy bucket/fun list writing!

If you feel comfortable then you may even like to share something on your fun list with someone close to you or on here :) I promise I won't laugh.....too hard! haha

Look after yourself and those around you,

Wicked entry! Got me thinking, these are just a few that come to mind, some are a tad extreme:

*Live interstate/Live overseas
*Skydive in New Zealand (over the snow)
*Go on a LOTR tour on horseback (while I'm in NZ)
*Go on a Sound of Music tour on a segway in Austria :D (I have a penpal in Austria who runs these...)
*Swim with sharks
*Own an Alannah Hill Dress
*Meet Robert Downey Jr :P (I had a dream that Peter Goehr's invited me to an interview, I'm sure it can happen!)
*Win a photography and/or writing competition
*Finish my study to masters level

I love my bucket list - it's on my phone, and grows each week.
But everything that I have completed is still on there, with a 'done' next to it ... reminding me of how far i've come :)

Still got lots to do on my list, some needing guts, some needing money, and some are waiting for the right time.

love your blog :)

Thanks Yorkshire Girl! I have many things on my bucket list too including riding a jet ski. I'm hoping to do it in Fiji in September. I also want to bungy jump in New Zealand! I've been sky diving and it was AMAZING!

I also want to write a book....slowly getting more guts to go for it! hahaha

That's a great idea to have it on your phone! I might transfer mine over there too.
